Sacred music and song in Armagh’s cathedral

Choirs and local singers to participate in pre-Christmas celebrations

St Patrick’s Cathedral, Armagh will host a number of musical events over the coming weeks.

The children’s cancer charity CLIC Sargent is presenting an evening of sacred music and song in the cathedral on Thursday, November 27 at 7.30pm. Guests include Malachi Cush, Andrea Begley and school choirs. Tickets cost £10 and are available at Armagh Parish Office and the Cathedral gift shop. The Ulster University Choir will visit St Patrick’s Cathedral on Thursday, December 11 at 8pm. The evening will involve an eclectic mix of styles of sacred choral music, both old and new, including a few Christmas carols. Admission is free.

The annual Christmas carol service will take place on Sunday, December 14 at 7pm. The Cathedral Choir will lead carols and there will be an opportunity for some congregational singing. The choir will be under the direction of Colm Murphy and a brass ensemble will provide accompaniment.
