A new interfaith radio station dedicated to sacred music from the world’s faith traditions has begun broadcasting on the internet.
Sacred Music Radio boasts a playlist of over 4,300 sacred tracks drawn from Hindu, Buddhist, Zoroastrian, Jewish and Islamic traditions in addition to sacred Christian music.
According to the station’s founders, “the ethos of the station is that this type of music can make one’s spirits soar no matter which religions they are traditionally associated with”.
“Our vision is that, as a result, by appreciating the music of diverse faiths, people may find themselves realising their common ground.”
Further, the station owners have stated an aim of Sacred Music Radio is to make the station a valuable resource to those who enjoy sacred music; in addition to facts on tracks and their composers, the site is designed to assist listeners to link to the Amazon website to purchase tracks.
There is also a voter button to make sure favourite tracks are included in schedules.
