Dear Editor, The Republic of Ireland is to hold a referendum in 2015 on the controversial issue of so-called same-sex ‘marriage’ – something which Eamon Gilmore, the Tánaiste, had lobbied for.
Whatever the outcome of such a referendum, there can never be such a state as ‘same-sex marriage’. Marriage is between a man and a woman – and that's God's word, not mine.
From Genesis (2:24) in the Old Testament to the (unknown) author of the Epistle to the Hebrews (Heb.:13-4) in the New Testament, it is abundantly evident what the definition of marriage (holy matrimony) is.
None of us can twist the Holy Scriptures.
Yours, etc.,
Jarlath Vaughan,
Ballykinlar,
Co. Down.
