Singing priest considers record deals

Fr Ray Kelly becomes online sensation

A Co. Meath priest who became an internet phenomenon when a video of him singing went viral, is now on the fast track to sign a record label. Instead of giving the traditional homily at a local wedding in April, Fr Ray Kelly of Oldcastle parish, Co. Meath sang his to the tune of Leonard Cohen’s song Hallelujah, and the video has since gained several million views on YouTube.

Currently the 60-year-old is in talks with three separate record labels, but he has said he will only accept a contract once he is sure that it will not interfere with his priestly duties. However, an agreement is expected to be reached in the coming weeks.
