The Christian radio station, Spirit Radio has reached a weekly listenership of over half a million people, according to a new survey.
To mark the station’s fifth year broadcasting it commissioned a poll carried out by Amarách Research which showed that listenership has doubled in the last two years. CEO of Spirit Radio, Rob Clarke said this was a clear indication that there is a hunger for “positive, uplifting” Christian radio in Ireland.
“Since we started Spirit Radio five years ago it has continued to grow from strength to strength, people have really warmed to our mix of compelling speech content and uplifting contemporary music with a positive message,” he said.
The online survey of 1,000 adults throughout Ireland aged 15 to 75 found that 16% tune in to the station, which equates to 540,000 people. The research also found that the profile of Spirit Radio listeners shows a strong share among 25-34 year-olds and Dubliners.
Spirit Radio is a multi-city radio station available in Dublin, Cork, Galway, Waterford, Limerick, Kildare, Dundalk, Wicklow and Kilkenny on FM and nationwide on MW. It is a multi-denominational cross-border organisation.
