Terror probe after madrassa explosion

Bangladesh – Police in the country are investigating a Muslim school of Koranic learning following an explosion thought to have taken place as militants prepared a bomb there. One person died in the explosion. The madrassa, in Chittagong is now suspected of being a site regularly used by militants as a cover for its activities. Investigators attending the scene of the explosion are reported to have found a number of devices and other weapons. An arrest warrant has also been issued for the madrassa’s founder. The incident has prompted concern that Islamic militants may be preparing to launch attacks during Bangladesh’s general election, set for the end of the year.
