The Bible proves a hit for TV3

Broadcaster inundated with calls after screening

The Irish broadcaster TV3 has been inundated with telephone calls and emails praising its screening of the mini-series The Bible over the Christmas period.

Having acquired exclusive rights to broadcast the series in Ireland, which began on December 21, TV3 was quickly overwhelmed by the level of praise from callers across the country, both for the production and the decision to screen the series.

At least one million people watched the five-part series which retold the biblical story from creation to the crucifixion.

Jeff Ford, TV3 Group Director of Content, said: “The Bible is a hugely impressive production that hit home with a lot of people. It was really fantastic to get such great feedback from our viewers. I can’t remember the last time I saw so many emails to express how much a programme was enjoyed so it really was heart-warming and encouraging.”

Mr Ford confirmed that the broadcaster will air the series again, most likely in time for Christmas 2014.

The Bible, produced by husband and wife team Mark Burnett and Roma Downey, has been a massive success in the United States, with 13 million viewers tuning in when it first aired there.
