Thurles procession to celebrate diversity

A parish consultation process with 140 clubs and active groups in Thurles is due to bear fruit next week with a Corpus Christi procession celebrating diversity.

Over the last year the ‘Thurles Parish People & Priests Group’ has met representatives of all the active groups in the Co. Tipperary town, to conduct a survey to ascertain the contribution they make to the parish and wider community.

This led to a gathering of all the groups to discuss increased lay participation in parish life, and plans to publish a ‘Thurles Directory’, an exhibition of the groups and an invitation for them to participate in a Corpus Christi procession on Saturday, June 6.

“The hope is that it would be a very public celebration of life in Thurles in all its diversity,” said Fr Martin Hayes. “It would be great to see all the groups in the parish being present at this event showing their colours. The more colour and diversity the better.”
