Travelling down road to moral anarchy

Dear Editor, The claim by Minister Simon Coveney that every child does not have the right to a mother and father shows how far down the road to moral anarchy we have travelled.

Citing the huge number of single parents (without alluding to the huge social and financial bill), he says it would be impossible to enforce such a right without State coercion. This is nonsense. The State cannot force people to get married, but it can force them to look after their children via court orders etc.

But thanks to the ‘liberal’ agenda, successive governments have undermined the ideal of the two-parent family. And thanks to the social and financial problems generated by this situation, society is paying a very high price indeed.

We used to rely on Fine Gael to rein in the wilder excesses of the Labour party. Not anymore.

Yours etc.,

Michael Hand,

Kilmore,
