The Irish Bishops' Conference has announced a special collection will be taken up in parishes on Sunday, November 17 to support the humanitarian work of Trócaire in Syria and to alleviate the plight of Christians in the wider Middle East.
Trócaire is supporting Caritas partners in Lebanon, Jordan, Turkey and Syria to deliver emergency aid to people who need it most, and has provided aid to 255,855 people in the region.
This aid includes the distribution of food, blankets, clothes, medicine and psycho-social support to people who have been forced to abandon their homes, as well as providing education to children who have been forced out of school.
