Vandals attack Dublin cemetery

Gardaí in Dublin are investigating a vandal attack on a cemetery in the city in which the graves of deceased babies were damaged.

The attack, on the Dean’s Grange cemetery in the south of the capital is believed to have occurred sometime during the night of July 3-4 and saw a number of headstones badly damaged, with statues beheaded in some cases.

In addition to some 10 graves attacked, the vandals also damaged memorials to the cemetery’s Angels’ plot.

Dun Laoghaire- Rathdown Council has stated that acts of vandalism have previously taken place at the cemetery and the use of CCTV cameras had been explored but not acted on due to the size of Dean’s Grange cemetery.
