Voters urged to choose pro-life candidates

The Pro-Life Campaign has urged voters to quiz general election candidates on where they stand on the constitutional protection of the unborn. The PLC has released a new video on YouTube urging voters only to support candidates who will use their influence to protect the Eighth Amendment.

“Your Vote Matters – Use It To Protect Human Life” begins by declaring that “this February Ireland’s pro-life laws hang in the balance”. It directs voters to the PLC website to find out where candidates stand on the issue.

Speaking about the launch, PLC deputy chairperson Cora Sherlock said the campaign has been “inundated” with requests from members of the public asking for advice on how to discern between candidates, and has responded by compiling information on candidates’ positions to enable voters be accurately informed on where candidates stand on the Life Equality amendment.

“After the way Fine Gael TDs broke their pre-election pro-life promise in 2013, pro-life supporters are rightly much more cautious about accepting the word of candidates,” she said.
