New access to International Theological Commission webpage

The International Theological Commission has renovated and enriched its page on the Vatican website (www.vatican.va). This offers all its documents in various languages, among the section of Commissions linked to the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith.

All the documents published by the commission are available for consultation, usually in ten or more languages. The commission has now taken a further step to facilitate consultation while conserving all its documentation on the official site of the Holy See, by establishing a new link (www.cti.va).

Referring to the initials of its Latin name, Commissio Theologica Internationalis, the new link has the advantage of being identical for various languages, such as Italian, Spanish, French and Portuguese.

Aside from offering a page dedicated to the commission, the new link also offers the reader the possibility of selecting the language without returning to the Vatican homepage.

It is hoped that this new and easier to use page will be a useful tool for stimulating dialogue by enabling an increasingly effective communication of the commissionís theological patrimony both within and beyond the Church.

Pope app gets facelift

The Vatican has released a new version of the ëPope Appí so that anyone with a cell phone can keep up with Pope Francis.

It has a new design that makes it a lot easier to read speeches. It even allows users to highlight some of the text, share it or save it to read it later.

Everything from the Popeís tweets to his homilies are available. Users can download live images, like the Popeís weekly general audience in the Square or the Sunday Angelus.

Itís also connected to six Vatican webcams that include the tomb of St. John Paul II and other sites around St Peterís Square.

Released in the iTunes and Google Play stores, ëThe Pope App 2.0í is free and available in five languages: English, Spanish, French, Italian and Portuguese.

Powered by News.va, the app features the latest papal news and information as produced by the Vaticanís own media service.

Past pontiffs in the palm of your hand

Pope Francis is the 266th Pontiff in the history of the Catholic Church. Heís obviously very popular, but the lives of other Popes, like Gregory X, arenít as well known.

Now, however, thereís an app for that. Itís called Popes Encyclopedia and with one simple click the lives of every single Pope become available.

It allows users to choose information on the Popes by date, name, country or religious order. Tapping on the cross will open the main menu. There one can find all kinds of information like the age of John XXIII upon his election, or where Pope Callistus III was born.

Users can also search topics ranging from the longest papacy to resignations and even Popes who have been canonised.

A picture of each Pope can be found along with a card that lists key details about his life. Popes Encyclopedia is available for iPhone and Android smartphones.
