Wexford climbers fundraising for Nepal victims

A group of hillwalkers from the Diocese of Ferns, including the Riverchapel parish priest, who survived the devastating earthquake in Nepal has organised a fundraising appeal through local parishes.

“We are working with Caritas in Nepal, a sister organisation of Trócaire, and 100% of the funds raised will go to projects on the ground,” said Fr Tom Dalton.

The group has organised a concert which takes place on May 28 at the National Opera House, Wexford at 8pm featuring Eleanor McEvoy, Aileen Donohue and The Celtic Tenors.

The Bishop of Ferns, Dr Denis Brennan has given permission for a special ‘voluntary’ collection in aid of those suffering as a result of the earthquakes in Nepal at the end of all Masses on the weekend of May 30-31.

The group has also opened a bank account for anyone who wishes to make a donation at AIB Wexford under the name “Wexford Nepal Appeal” (Sort Code:93-33-41, Account:42596015, IBAN:IE34 AIBK93334142596015, BIC: AIBKIE2D).
