WMOF Teen Global Village promises to be a hit with youth

WMOF Teen Global Village promises to be a hit with youth
WMOF 2018: Programme

Among the many events and programmes taking place during the World Meeting of Families, the Teen Global Village is welcoming teenagers from all over the world to pray, listen to speakers, and meet their national and international peers.

Running from August 22-24, the village is a fun and interactive space for teenagers between the ages of 13 and 17. Throughout the different days, attendees will pray together, hear uplifting music, and listen to stories of Faith, hope and love, all the while having fun.

“We really wanted to create a personal atmosphere for young people where they can come and really engage their hearts and minds but also be inspired by great speakers and catechesis and have discussions.

“We’re also very blessed as well in that we have seven different organisations represented that are leading workshops as well,” said Dermot Kelly, co-ordinator of the Teen Global Village.

The Teen Global Village will be held in a secure area of the RDS Simmonscourt campus, and the various workshops will particularly draw participants into a deeper engagement with the interests and issues that all teens face today in their lives ranging from relationships and family to spirituality and prayer.

“We listen to young people’s voices and what they feel they would like to see within the church. There’s an array of voices on show that are going to give a great witness and testimony to speak out on what young people are asking for,” said Dermot.

Some of the common themes of these workshops include ‘Caring for the Earth and our Common Home’, Mental Health Awareness’, Discerning Vocation’, ‘Christian Mindfulness and ‘Prayer’, and ‘Seeking Global Justice and Human Right for all of Humanity’.

While teenagers are having fun in the village, listening to speakers and talking to one another, parents will go to an adult section where they can learn more about and develop their Faith.
