Mexico’s World Cup team experienced a miracle of sorts on Sunday with a stunning victory over Germany, some say because of one faithful grandmother.

A girl named Paola of El Paso, Texas posted a video via Twitter of her grandmother blessing the Mexican team moments before the game started on Sunday. The video has now gone viral.

As of Tuesday morning, it had 15 million views on Twitter and one million retweets. Germany, as the defending World Cup champions, were favoured to win the game, and shocked the world by losing to Mexico 1-0.

“I’m 100% convinced my grandma was the reason Mexico won,” Paola wrote.

Oddly, the winning blessing is rivalled for the craziest event during the game. The only goal of the game, scored in the 35th minute by Hirving Lozano of Mexico, led fans in Mexico to celebrate and just seven seconds later, an artificial earthquake was reported at two different seismic centres in Mexico City.

Although the Institute of Geological and Atmospheric Research says that these events are not uncommon due to highly sensitive equipment near crowds of large people, fans of Mexico’s team are hoping that the blessed grandmother has enough Faith for more groundbreaking wins in the World Cup.
